Solar Power Plant of Sistan and Baluchestan University

The first phase of the University solar power plant was officially opened with the management of Dr. S Masoud Barakati and the support of the Sistan and Baluchestan University in 2012. The power plant’s capacity is 20 kilowatts, of which 15 kilowatts are connected to the grid and injected the electricity into the power network of the University. The rest 5 kilowatts of this power plant are isolated from the grid. When the city’s power is cut off, the power plant’s batteries used the isolated section in a separate system from the power grid and the building of the solar power plant. In the next phase of the solar power plant development, two years later, in 2015, another project with a capacity of 20 kilowatts connected to the power grid was opened and put into operation. In the not too distant future, we will see the opening of another phase of 40 kW at the site of the University’s solar power plant. Moreover, the bigger goal is to use the ceiling of the existing buildings in the University to locate solar panels and design and build garages with its roof covered with solar panels. It will be possible to use up to one megawatt of electricity from these spaces to generate electricity.
The Photovoltaic solar plant contains four Units:

  • Unit 1: 15 kW (SMA) on-grid
  • Unit 2: 5 kW (SMA) off-grid
  • Unit 3: 10 kW (Solax) on-grid
  • Unit 4: 10 kW (Solax) on-grid

The University of Sistan and Baluchestan Solar Power Plant Location

Here have been brought some pictures and a video of a solar power plant, Dr. Barakati, Dr. Yousofi, and students who have been researching in this laboratory on many different topics. The pictures show that this friendly atmosphere in the power electronics laboratory causes students to have a great result in their scientific research.
